Prohibition: The Effect of Alcoholism on the American Family

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

My research this semester will be devoted to the Prohibition era in America during the 1920’s.  I want to narrow my focus on the structure of the American family and how Prohibition affected the traditional domestic roles of all members. The research will argue whether Prohibition brought peace to the home with responsible parents and structured lives, or if it created more problems with crime and trafficking illegal alcohol than the 18th amendment’s intended solution. I want to research more historians using secondary and primary sources to decide which angle of the argument I want to take and then find sources and facts to back my argument.
